Once you do, select Theme and go all the way up on the side menu to select Install. Step 6: Select your USB drive from the list of available sources.
The themes you have on it should show up on the screen. Choose the one you want and install it. You will now see the theme you just installed. Select it and Apply it. However, the free themes available on the PSN are very limited in number and most of them try to advertise either a brand or a game.
Nothing wrong about that, but it will definitely not appeal to many. Most of the themes there are paid, but you will also find a few free ones. Alternatively, for more choices of themes, you could simply head to Searchlook up your favorite game and it will most likely offer a free theme. What's on my hacked PSP 1000?

XMB was the name of what they were using before, which was an interface thoroughly inspired by Sony's inteface for the PlayStation where you slide along and pick various options.
While it looked pretty, their XMB interface wasn't very accessible and relied on people really knowing what to look for. Ozone is the interface that has replaced it, only by default though, you can change between interfaces in the Drivers settings page. Here's what it looks like now by default:. Definitely not as pretty, sure but far easier to understand for people only just grabbing it. Lots of bug fixes and quality of life features sorted in RetroArch 1.

See more from me. KaDargo 23 Mar. I saw this posted on Twitter and I thought it was a Switch screenshot for a second. Yeah, that's heavily inspired by the Switch.
I like Ozone more to be honest. The interface features icons that are spread horizontally across the screen. Navigation moves the icons, instead of a cursor. These icons are used as categories to organize the options available to the user. When an icon is selected on the horizontal bar, several more appear vertically, above and below it. They, in turn, are selectable by the up and down directions on a directional pad. Sony Bravia smart televisions continued to use it untilwhen both an unnamed interface with Smart TV functionality and Android TV were phased in.
Once a category is selected, its options appear below the icon, selectable by pressing the button for European and North American versionor button Asian versions only. Going back is possible by pressing the left directional button or the button for European and North American versionor button Asian versions only. Some items have an option menu that can be displayed by pressing the button. The XMB is capable of limited multitasking. This feature can be used to watch a video, look at a photo, listen to music, and look at the current web page, all while browsing the XMB.
However, what is in the background will be cancelled if any item is accessed on the XMB except if viewing pictures while listening to music. The background color on the XMB changes color depending on the current month. On a PSP with firmware 2. On a PSP with firmware 3. On a PSP with at least system software 4.
These two options are the ability to change between the new "waves" effect and the classic "wavy lines". On update 5. Users with system software version 3. Subsequently, Sony released software which allows users to create their own themes for the PlayStation Portable.
The dynamic lines on the background are more condensed into a 'ribbon' rather than the PSP's large waves, unselected icons shrink slightly and every selectable background color has been made a shade darker. It also has compatibility for a USB keyboard and mouse and a full web browser supporting downloading of multiple file types. Many people are working on their own icon sets, or wallpaper sets.
RetroArch allows to change the system font, and the background shader. It also supports per system backgrounds and static backgrounds. How do you load themes like this? Do you have to manually set aside the default assets and drop your own in their place?
A unified themes selector would be kind of handy for general users, and would encourage more creativity like this. Well, each XMB theme is primarily an icon theme. But they also come with a default font and static background.
Then RetroArch lets you override the font and the background, and lets you enable or disable shadows. I love this Bokeh animated background. It would be even better if we could make it react to the horizontal scrolling, like a subtle parallax effect. The truth is that I did not have game consoles, I enjoy the games today thanks to retroarch. Capture du My RA looks like that using 1x1black. Sadly it was not enough for the guy to be able to read the screen.
So he sent me some links about accessibility and it looks like a difficult thing to implement well.
A black-and-white, no-checkerboard-background version of RGUI might be more accessible, though obviously less attractive. After taking the pics I disabled the core name gets cut by playlists and the time seems to not regard my gmt configand it looks even cleaner. This is the result:. There are many things that can be improved removing small text, first of all, and there are some inconsistenciesbut I was pretty satisfied.
Using only the logos, without a frame would make me go crazy. Of course after this I went back to Systematic. Edit: sorted most of the problems I had with it and uploaded them here: [Album] Retroarch custom iconset lots of copyright infringement, so use at your own risk.
Turns out it works pretty well on top of Monochrome. RetroArch Material Design. Show your current theme! RetroArch Additions Themes. Looks great! Very nice mario theme Renetrox. I force the psp layout, which is a special layout in xmb where: only 5 icons are displayed horizontally the active icon is the second from the left, instead of the third from the left no sublabels are displayed I also set a scale of here.
Disabling the core name seems like a good idea in general. RetroArch Material Design screenshot.Top Resources. Updated: Apr 19, Updated: Jun 13, Updated: Oct 6, Updated: Apr 23, Updated: Jul 6, Updated: Jun 10, PS3 Advanced Power Options v1. Updated: Sep 21, View All Featured Resources.
